Mark Earley, a Republican elected to the Virginia State House in 2024 representing the state’s 73rd House district, has raised concerns on social media regarding recent Democratic efforts around redistricting and affordability in Virginia.
On January 22, 2026, Earley criticized the language used by Democrats in relation to redistricting: “Democrats go full Orwellian with the language here. Calling obvious gerrymandering “restoring fairness” is absurd. What a slap in the face to Virginians.”
The following day, he provided an update on these efforts: “Update on Democrat Gerrymandering effort here in VA: 1) The language is Orwellian 2) Referendum likely April 21 3) Ongoing litigation” (January 23, 2026).
Earley also commented on economic issues with another post asking: “Is this affordability?” (January 23, 2026).
Earley’s statements come as debates over redistricting intensify across Virginia. He succeeded Rodney Willett as representative for the state’s 73rd House district after winning election in November 2024.
