Mark Earley, a public official, shared updates on community engagement and policy positions through a series of posts on October 17 and 18, 2025.

On October 17, Earley highlighted his participation in a local event, stating, “Great time joining the SPAN Center’s Empty Plate Luncheon. Appreciate all the great work they do serving older adults, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities.” The SPAN Center is recognized for its support of older adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities.

Later that day, Earley addressed concerns about rising living costs and energy prices. He wrote, “I sent a letter to the SCC earlier this year opposing the proposed rate hike, along with a colleague. Energy costs are too high and folks are still struggling with high prices at the gas pump, grocery store, & pharmacy. I don’t think this is the time to make energy bills”. In this message, Earley referenced his formal opposition to a proposed energy rate increase before the State Corporation Commission (SCC), emphasizing the ongoing financial challenges faced by residents.

On October 18, Earley shared a brief note about a local sports event: “Friday night lights! Cosby v. Midlo!”

The SCC, or State Corporation Commission, is responsible for regulating utilities and reviewing proposed rate changes in Virginia. Rising energy and consumer prices have been a point of concern for many residents and public officials in recent years.
