Mark Earley, a Republican elected in 2024 to represent Virginia’s 73rd House district, has voiced concerns on social media regarding the state’s current trajectory and recent events affecting local communities.

On January 20, 2026, Earley wrote, “I wish it weren’t so, but we’re in for a very rough ride here in Virginia.” Later that day, he expanded on his apprehensions with another post: “Our taxes will be higher, our communities more dangerous, our businesses weaker, our rights lessened, and our social fabric stretched thinner.”

In a separate tweet on the same date, Earley commented on an incident involving a church: “This is among the most outrageous things I’ve ever seen. Invading a church during a worship service to intimidate children & families is so far beyond the pale. There must be accountability.”

Earley’s recent statements reflect ongoing political debates within Virginia regarding public safety, economic policy, and civil rights. As background, Earley succeeded Rodney Willett as state representative after being elected to the Virginia State House in 2024.
