Mark Earley, a public figure active in Virginia politics, posted several messages on September 1, 2025, reflecting on community events and notable occasions.

In recognition of Overdose Awareness Day, Earley wrote: “Today is Overdose Awareness Day, and I joined VFSA and other great organizations at New Life Outreach Church to both remember those we’ve lost to fentanyl, and also take hope in the great progress we’ve made in the last couple years. The fight continues. I deeply admire those” (September 1, 2025).

Later that morning, he acknowledged Labor Day with a message focusing on the value of work and economic opportunity in Virginia: “Happy Labor Day! Today we celebrate the indispensable folks who work hard and get the job done. We were made to work, to create — there’s dignity in work. We here in Virginia want to create a climate where jobs grow, small businesses flourish, and folks can find the work they” (September 1, 2025).

In a lighter note posted that afternoon, Earley celebrated a business milestone: “Happy 70th birthday to an American classic, WAFFLE HOUSE!” (September 1, 2025).

Overdose Awareness Day is observed annually to raise awareness about drug overdoses and reduce stigma around substance use disorders. Many communities across the United States hold vigils or educational events as part of this observance.

Labor Day is recognized as a federal holiday in the United States dedicated to honoring workers’ contributions and achievements. It is traditionally celebrated on the first Monday of September.

Waffle House is a national restaurant chain founded in Georgia in 1955. In September 2025, it marked its seventieth anniversary.
