The Atlantic 10 Conference announced on Apr. 22 that two members of the VCU Rams men’s track and field team, Philip Daniel and Presten Augustin, have earned weekly conference honors. Daniel was named Men’s Field Performer of the Week, while Augustin received Men’s Rookie of the Week for their recent performances.
These awards highlight continued success for both athletes. Daniel has now won his second A-10 weekly award this season and was previously named to the All-Academic team at the end of the indoor season. He set a program record with a triple jump distance of 15.92 meters, which ranks nineteenth in Division I this year and is currently best in the Atlantic 10 Conference. This achievement marks his fourth time breaking the triple jump program record during the current season.
Daniel shares recognition in this event with junior Isaiah-Taji Kargbo-Owens, who also set an unaided program record at 15.78 meters over the weekend; both are now listed as program record holders for triple jump performances under different conditions.
Augustin has been named A-10 Rookie of the Week for three consecutive weeks—his fourth such honor in 2026—and recently won first place in the 400-meter hurdles at the Virginia Challenge with a personal-best time of 51.63 seconds. This result is currently fastest in conference competition this year and stands as third best all-time within VCU’s program history.
During this season, Augustin has established top-10 marks for VCU in both hurdle events (400m and 60m) and secured a bronze medal at indoor championships along with being part of a gold-medal-winning relay team.
Following a break from competition last weekend, VCU will return to action on Saturday, May 3rd at George Mason University for the A-10 Outdoor Championships where both Daniel and Augustin are expected to compete.
