The City of Richmond has announced the appointment of Tanikia Jackson as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) for Finance and Administration. Ms. Jackson brings over two decades of experience in government finance, operations, and strategic planning within municipal public sectors across the Southeast.

Previously, Ms. Jackson served as Deputy Chief of Staff for the City of Atlanta, overseeing budget, procurement, and infrastructure operations. Her career also includes roles such as Deputy Chief Financial Officer for Chattanooga, TN, and leadership positions in DeKalb County and Augusta-Richmond County in Georgia.

In her new position in Richmond, Ms. Jackson will manage various administrative functions including Budget and Strategic Planning, Citizen Service and Response, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, General Services, and Procurement.

“Ms. Jackson has a proven track record of best-in-class municipal finance and administrative leadership,” said Odie Donald, Chief Administrative Officer. “She brings a wealth of experience from some of the Southeast’s most dynamic cities and county and leads with heart and purpose exemplified by her military service.”

“I am honored to join the City of Richmond,” said Jackson. “I look forward to working alongside the City’s leadership to strengthen our finance and administration functions.”

Mayor Danny Avula expressed enthusiasm about Ms. Jackson’s appointment: “I’m thrilled to welcome with Ms. Jackson to Richmond.”

During her time in Atlanta, she contributed significantly to achieving a Triple-A bond rating from Fitch for the city. Her efforts included managing an executive office budget worth $34 million among other initiatives.

Ms. Jackson began her public service career with six years in active duty in the U.S Air Force before earning a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management along with a Bachelor’s degree from DeVry University.

Her first day at work with the City of Richmond is scheduled for Monday August 11th.
