The City of Richmond hosted a virtual public meeting on August 19 to discuss upcoming utility work in the Forest Hill Avenue area. The session, held at 6:00 p.m., focused on infrastructure projects intended to address failing systems and improve reliability for residents and businesses.

Officials from the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) presented information about two major projects. The first is a water line replacement along Hathaway Road, stretching from Riverside Drive/Longview Drive to the 2900 block of Hathaway Road. This project is scheduled to begin on August 25 and is expected to last six months.

The second project involves replacing deteriorated sewer laterals in the 6900-7000 blocks of Forest Hill Avenue’s westbound lanes. Work will start on September 2 with an estimated duration of two months.

During the meeting, DPU project managers provided details about each project’s scope, reviewed plans, and discussed anticipated traffic impacts. Residents and business owners were able to ask questions and learn how these improvements may affect their daily routines.

Virtual meeting materials, including a presentation and recording, were made available for those unable to attend.
