The Richmond Department of Public Works (DPW) is set to host an infrastructure showcase, providing residents with direct access to information about city construction projects. The event, titled “RVA Builds: The Infrastructure Information Initiative,” will take place on Tuesday, September 23, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Main Street Station.

“This is a chance for the community to speak directly with the teams who design, build, and improve our city,” said Bobby Vincent, Director of Public Works. “It’s about transparency and connection. We want residents to understand how decisions are made, how projects are prioritized, and how they can get involved.”

The open house will feature representatives from several city departments and partner agencies. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with engineers, architects, planners, and designers working on major capital improvement projects as well as smaller initiatives. Departments participating include Public Works and the Office of Equitable Transit and Mobility, Public Utilities, Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities, Planning and Development Review, Economic Development Authority, General Services, among others.

Visitors can expect information tables highlighting current and upcoming improvements in roadways, bridges, parks, transportation systems, special utility projects, and other construction efforts throughout Richmond. There will also be maps and visual renderings of these projects along with special presentations offering project overviews.

A question-and-answer session is planned for attendees seeking more detailed explanations or wanting to provide feedback. Dinner will be provided at the event; however, registration is required by September 22 at rva.gov/public-works/rvabuilds.

For additional details about DPW activities or future updates on related projects and events in Richmond residents are encouraged to visit rva.gov/public-works or follow @DPW_RichmondVA on X.
