The University of Richmond men’s lacrosse team defeated High Point, 19–10, on Apr. 24 to complete an undefeated Atlantic 10 conference season and secure back-to-back regular-season titles.
This victory marks the third time in program history that Richmond has finished its conference schedule without a loss, and the first time it has done so in consecutive years. The Spiders also set a new single-season record with their twelfth regular-season win.
The game began with both teams tied at four goals each after the first quarter. Richmond then outscored High Point by nine goals over the remaining three quarters, including a five-goal run in the second quarter that helped establish control of the match. Daniel Picart opened scoring for Richmond, while Lucas Littlejohn contributed two consecutive goals later in the period. Aidan O’Neil tied it up before High Point briefly regained the lead early in the second quarter.
Joe Sheridan’s goal tied things again for Richmond before O’Neil and Littlejohn gave them a two-goal advantage. Gavin Creo added another score to close out the half with a four-goal lead for Richmond. In the second half, additional goals from Creo, Cole Hayden, Jack Ricciardi, and Littlejohn extended their advantage as defensive efforts limited High Point’s opportunities.
O’Neil finished as top scorer for Richmond with five goals and one assist—his second five-goal game this season—while Littlejohn matched his season high with five points (four goals and one assist). Creo recorded a career-high five points as well. Goalkeeper Connor Knight made ten saves and assisted on defenseman Nate Murphy’s first career goal late in the fourth quarter.
With this win, Richmond extended its Atlantic 10 winning streak to twelve games and improved its all-time conference record to nineteen wins against two losses—a win rate of more than ninety percent. The team will next face UMass in Thursday’s Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals at Robins Stadium.
