Mayor Avula has announced the next steps in Richmond’s efforts to strengthen its water infrastructure and security. On August 18, Chief Administrative Officer Odie Donald and Director of Public Utilities Scott Morris will convene a regional work group. This group includes utility directors and administrators from Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, and Hanover Counties. The agenda for this meeting is to review and evaluate capital investment plans.

A week later, on August 25, the same regional work group will participate in a day-long tabletop exercise. The focus areas include cybersecurity, emergency action plans, system modeling, system monitoring, and information sharing through dashboards.

The meetings are not open to the public. However, the City has stated that it will provide a summary of outcomes and outline further steps following these sessions.
