Richmond Police officers responded to a missing person report involving an adult male on the 1500 block of Clarkson Road around 7:03 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30. Upon arrival, officers found that agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were present in the Southwood neighborhood.

Officers consulted with ICE agents, who confirmed that the individual reported missing was in federal custody. Richmond Police then notified the person who had reported the man missing about his status.

According to the department, Richmond Police did not participate in ICE’s activities. “RPD did not participate in the activity of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as is standard practice for the Richmond Police Department,” according to the release.
