The Richmond Police Department announced on April 28 that the 37th Community Academy has been rescheduled for September. The program is free and designed to help residents learn about police operations and strengthen community relationships.
The academy aims to provide participants with a better understanding of how the police department serves the community. Residents will have opportunities to engage in interactive sessions covering topics such as police procedures, traffic stops, suicide prevention, CPR and medical response, child abuse, sex abuse, and domestic violence awareness. Attendees will also get a behind-the-scenes look at public safety agencies.
Upon completion of the program, participants will take part in a graduation ceremony. The Richmond Police Department said this initiative is intended to empower residents with knowledge and foster stronger partnerships between law enforcement and the community.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to contact Jasmine Perez at either 804-646-5158 or 804-750-9645 or by email at jasmine.perez@rva.gov for more information or to apply.
The department said this opportunity allows residents not only to connect with officers but also contribute toward building a safer Richmond.
