Richmond Public Schools announced on June 3 that it will participate in the Seamless Summer Option, providing free meals to all children at designated locations throughout the city. The program is open to all children without charge and ensures equal treatment regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, or age. Meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at various elementary, middle, and high schools between June 8 and July 24. Children are required to remain on-site while eating their meals.

Breakfast and lunch will be served at Broad Rock Elementary School, Chimborazo Elementary School, J.B. Fisher Elementary School, J.H. Blackwell Elementary School, Linwood Holton Elementary School, and William Fox Elementary School from June 8 through July 9; Thomas C. Boushall Middle School and Thomas H. Henderson Middle School during the same period; Huguenot High School and Richmond Technical Center from June 8 through July 16; and John Marshall High School from June 8 through July 24.

The school division emphasized its commitment to non-discrimination in accordance with federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations: “This institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.” Program information may also be made available in languages other than English.

Individuals with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information are encouraged to contact either the responsible state or local agency administering the program or USDA’s TARGET Center by phone or Federal Relay Service.

To file a program discrimination complaint regarding meal service participation or access issues under this initiative, individuals can complete Form AD-3027—available online—or submit a letter containing relevant details directly to the U.S. Department of Agriculture by mail, fax, or email as specified by RPS.
