Amon Dörries, a 6-foot-11 center from Potsdam, Germany, will join the Richmond Spiders men’s basketball team for the upcoming season, according to an April 15 announcement. Dörries transfers from Bucknell after a record-setting freshman year.

Dörries scored more points than any freshman in Bucknell program history and was named to both the Second Team All-Patriot League and the Patriot League All-Rookie Team for the 2025-26 season. He led Bucknell with an average of 16.2 points per game, ranking fifth in the Patriot League and making him the 23rd highest scoring freshman in Division I last season.

During his first year at Bucknell, Dörries became only the third freshman to lead his team in scoring and was the first to do so since the 1976-77 season. His total of 534 points surpassed all previous first-year players at Bucknell by a margin of 67 points. He made field goals at a rate of 54 percent, which ranked fifth among qualified players in his conference. On January 31, he scored a personal best of 36 points against Boston University—the most ever by a Bucknell freshman in one game.

At season’s end, Dörries was recognized as Bucknell’s sole representative on an All-Patriot League team and became their first player selected for the league’s All-Rookie Team since 2015. In addition to his college achievements, he has played internationally with Germany’s national team at events such as the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup and spent time with ALBA Berlin during two seasons in Germany’s top basketball league.

Dörries is now set to become Richmond’s second transfer recruit for its incoming class alongside Butler guard Jamie Kaiser Jr.
