The University of Richmond women’s basketball team announced on April 29 that Emma Schoen, a guard from Sellersburg, Indiana, has signed to join the Spiders for the 2026-27 season. Head Coach Alisa Kresge said Schoen will be the second player to sign under her leadership.
Schoen comes to Richmond after a notable career at Silver Creek High School. She scored a total of 1,243 points in her high school career, ranking fourth in program history. She also set school records with 222 three-pointers made and an 87 percent free throw percentage.
“Emma is highly skilled combo guard with an outstanding work ethic,” Kresge said. “Her ability to shoot the ball along with her high basketball IQ elevates the play of those around her and brings great value on the court.”
During her senior year, Schoen set a program record with a 4.1 assist-to-turnover ratio and continued strong offensive production. She holds single-season records for three-pointers made (72) and free throw percentage (91 percent). Her honors include being named twice to both IBCA Large School First Team All-State and ICGSA Second Team All-State selections, as well as earning multiple regional accolades such as Courier Journal All-Area honors.
Nationally, Schoen was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American and participated in events like the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 workout and IBCA Top 100 Showcase. She helped lead Silver Creek High School to three consecutive Mid-Southern Conference championships during her time there.
Looking ahead, Schoen is recognized for her deep shooting range, defensive skills, and playmaking abilities. She played AAU basketball for WV Thunder against national competition.
