The Richmond Spiders women’s golf team will participate in the Wake Forest Regional of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships from May 11 to May 13, according to a May 6 announcement by the NCAA. The event will take place at Bermuda Run Country Club and features Richmond alongside thirteen other teams and five individuals.

This opportunity comes after Richmond secured an automatic bid by winning its first Atlantic 10 title since 2017 last Wednesday. The team’s victory in the conference championship has earned them a spot among a competitive field aiming for advancement to the national championship.

The top five teams from each of the six regional sites will qualify for the NCAA Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, from May 29 through June 3. This marks Richmond’s sixth appearance as a team in the NCAA Championship. In their previous appearance in 2017, they finished eleventh at the West Lafayette Regional.

Teams competing at Bermuda Run are seeded as follows: Virginia (Atlantic Coast Conference), Ole Miss (Southeastern Conference), Pepperdine (West Coast Conference), Georgia Tech, Southern California, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Little Rock (Ohio Valley Conference), NC State, Kentucky, Houston, Richmond (Atlantic 10 Conference), Navy (Patriot League), and Presbyterian (Big South Conference).

As they prepare for this challenge on a national stage once again, Richmond looks to build on their recent success and aim for one of five qualifying spots into this year’s NCAA Championship.
