The City of Richmond will host an event for residents to safely dispose of electronics, documents, and household hazardous waste. The Richmond E-Cycle Day will be held on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 1710 Robin Hood Road. The event is organized by the Department of Public Works, the Clean City Commission, and the Department of Public Utilities.
The E-Cycle Day provides residents an opportunity to recycle paper and electronics, aiding in keeping hazardous materials away from waterways. Attendees must provide proof of residency, and the event will be conducted in a drive-thru manner, with volunteers removing items from cars. Business or commercial items will not be accepted.
Paper document shredding services will be available for up to five boxes of documents, with binders, staples, and clips needing removal beforehand. Electronics can be recycled for various fees, including computer systems and accessories, televisions, and other electronic equipment with a plug. A full list of acceptable electronics and associated fees can be found on the city’s website.
Household hazardous waste items accepted include pesticides, herbicides, and oil-based paints. Latex and water-based paints will not be collected, but they can be dried and disposed of with regular trash.
Organizers encourage residents to visit www.rva.gov/public-works/clean-city-commission for more information on the event. Residents can also follow updates on Twitter at @DPW_RichmondVA.
