Riverside Regional Jail arrested Selena Perez Lopez, a Mexican national, on multiple charges, including firearm possession, driving while intoxicated, and bringing a weapon into a correctional facility. She also faces a charge of driving without a license.

Booking information for the arrest appeared on the Riverside Regional Jail public database

Riverside Regional Jail signed an agreement with ICE in May 2025 to house federal immigration detainees at the facility in Prince George County. The contract supports short-term detention operations and has become a revenue component for the jail, as reported by WRIC.

U.S. Border Patrol recorded thousands of arrests of noncitizens in recent fiscal years, including hundreds involving illegal weapons possession, transport or trafficking. These enforcement actions reflect ongoing federal priorities at the border and interior for individuals with prior criminal convictions. Data from fiscal year 2025 shows continued activity in this category among noncitizen encounters, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Riverside Regional Jail is a regional detention facility serving Prince George County and surrounding Virginia localities, including Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg, Dinwiddie and Sussex, according to Riverside Regional Jail.
