86 percent of applicants to Virginia Commonwealth University were admitted for fall 2018

At Virginia Commonwealth University, 87 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 60 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Richmond enrolled 30,697 students in fall 2018, including 23,693 in undergraduate and 7,004 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

92 percent of undergraduates are residents of Virginia, and 6 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (45 percent) and Black or African American (19 percent).

The school admitted 86 percent of the 16,549 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 32 percent enrolled.
