44 percent of applicants to Virginia Union University were admitted for fall 2018

At Virginia Union University, 90 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 55 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Richmond enrolled 1,552 students in fall 2018, including 1,193 in undergraduate and 359 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

61 percent of undergraduates are residents of Virginia, and 38 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (91 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (1 percent).

The school admitted 44 percent of the 6,397 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 7 percent enrolled.
