Stafford Museum and Cultural Center and Rotary Clubs Announce Via Colori Street Painting Festival

16

Virginia Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 26

The Stafford County Museum and Cultural Center and Rotary clubs of North Stafford and Stafford are pleased to announce the inaugural Via Colori Stafford, to be held September 25 and 26, 2021 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m each day. Located at the Stafford Courthouse commuter lot at the intersection of Rt. 630 and I95 North, Via Colori is a free event for all ages.

Sponsored by Stafford County Tourism and B101.5, Via Colori is the modern-day version of a centuries-old tradition in which dozens of volunteer artists create large-scale pastel artworks directly on the pavement of city streets. Each artist square is sponsored by a business, organization or family, and the proceeds after expenses will benefit museum and Rotary projects in our community. Sponsoring an artist brings funds to worthy historical and service projects throughout our region, supports individual artist efforts to publicize their work, and it recognizes your company or organization as a supporter of creativity in Stafford. Via Colori is recruiting 100 artists from the ranks of the region’s most notable art organizations, and has a variety of artist sponsorship opportunities available beginning at $250. Sign up online through this form. For more information, to complete your sponsorship in person, or to consider a contribution as a Major event sponsor, email viacolorisales@gmail.com.

In addition to sponsors, artists and volunteers are also welcome. Any adult can apply to be a Via Colori artist. There is no jury of artists or competition, as the focus is the joy of the creative process. For additional information and an application, contact viacoloriartist@gmail.com or submit this form. For groups and individuals who would like to volunteer for event operations, complete the online Via Colori Volunteer Interest form or email viacolorivolunteer@gmail.com for questions or additional information.

Festival art and information can be found at   or facebook.com/viacoloristafford.

The Stafford County Museum and Cultural Center’s mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and promote the diverse history of Stafford County in order to build an understanding of our past and its connection with the present. As part of the 2021 operating plan, the Museum is looking to establish a long-term celebration of culture that can become an annual signature fundraising event and create a family-oriented gathering for the County. Via Colori Stafford is that gathering, and the funds raised through sponsorships go right back into Stafford County through the Museum and local efforts of the Rotary Club of North Stafford and the Rotary Club of Stafford.
