Virginia Energy Workforce Consortium (VEWC) to host a Adversity, Equity & Inclusion Roundtable Series

4

Virginia Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 1

Diversity in the workplace has become a crucial topic of conversation, as more progressive movements and views have permeated society and culture. During the last two years, we have been reminded of the importance of diversity in all walks of life, as well as the dangers of contentment and elimination.

2020 brought about a pandemic as well as a renewed focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We have witnessed that the world still has a long way to go. Regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual preferences, and ability, all people are treated equally, particularly in the workplace.

An improved approach to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are critical to the long-term survival of the energy sector. The energy industry is constantly adopting diversity and inclusion strategies to allow everyone willing to work in the energy industry to have equal opportunities to flourish as employees, employers, and representing its customers. The energy sector is working not to make this a “check the box” effort. However, it is working to actively change with the paradigm shift occurring in today’s world.

Over the next few months, the VEWC invites you to join us as we host three free 90 minutes virtual webinars focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We will hear from energy industry leaders, respond to your questions, and asks for your real-time feedback to our polling questions.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work is never-ending, and we look forward to sharing our thoughts and insight while responding to your questions. We are excited to invite you to join us on this journey to create a workplace committed to DE&I.
