Virginia Union University Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 30
Box Score Virginia Union University's Khalid Morris connected on 14 of 27 passes for 298 yards and season-high three touchdowns as VUU defeated Elizabeth City State University 44-14 on Saturday, October 30, in Elizabeth City, N.C.
Morris threw no interceptions while the Panther offensive line allowed no sacks.
VUU's defense held Elizabeth City State to just 10 yards rushing while Ronnie Monroe had an interception and a fumble recovery.
Union's Jada Byers led the Panthers with 99 yards rushing on 20 carries, including rushing for three touchdowns.
VUU rushed out to a 34-0 halftime lead on three first-half touchdowns by Byers.
Morris connected with wide receiver Charles Hall for a 74-yard touchdown strike.
The win raised VUU's record to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the CIAA. Elizabeth City State fell to 3-6 overall and 3-3 in CIAA play.
Virginia Union wraps up the 2021 season when the Panthers play host to arch-rival Virginia State University in a nationally televised game at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, at Willie Lanier Field in Hovey Stadium.
