Virginia Union University Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 14
Virginia Union University's Jay Butler became the first VUU coach since Dave Robbins to get 100 wins as the Panthers downed Livingstone College 79-64 on Tuesday, December 14, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
VUU's Tyriek Railey came off the bench to score 16 points as VUU raised it's record to 7-2 on the season and 1-0 in CIAA play.
"It feels good," said Butler. "Anytime you can get 100 wins at your alma mater is a good feeling, this was where I was a pretty good ball player. To have these guys for the last couple of years playing at a high level is what provided me to get to 100 wins. But our goals this year is that we want to win 20 games. To get to our seventh win this early in the season is a huge one."
VUU's Robert Osborne also came off the bench to score 15 points while teammate Keleaf Tate added 12 points.
Virginia Union's Jordan Peebles also reached double-figures by scoring 11 points.
Union's Raemaad Wright led the Panthers on the boards with 10 rebounds.
Livingstone fell to 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in the CIAA.
