Virginia Union University Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 23
Virginia Union University's men's basketball team has moved up to #8 in the Atlantic Region of the NCAA in the latest D2SIDA basketball poll, it was announced on Thursday, December 23.
The Panthers are 8-3. with two of the three losses coming in overtime and double-overtime on the road to teams listed in the Top 25 in the nation.
VUU is also undefeated in CIAA play.
"To be recognized as one of the top 8 teams in our region is a huge accomplishment going into the Christmas break," said VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach Jay Butler. "We also realize it's early and we want to keep getting better each game so we can get higher in the rankings by NCAA Tournament time."
Virginia Union is idle until they meet Bluefield State College at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
