VCU Women's tennis has been ranked No. 3 in the ITA Atlantic Region Team Rankings, the organization announced Wednesday. Graduate Student Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado finished No. 4 in the singles poll while placing No. 8 in doubles with partner Freshman Laura Garcia Astudillo.
This selection comes after the Rams earned a 18-7 overall record including a stellar 10-2 mark at Thalhimer Tennis Center. VCU completed the season by claiming a fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
Diaz-Delgado claims the No. 4 position in the singles ranking after becoming the first player in program history to reach an NCAA Singles Championship semifinals. The Almeria, Spain native completed the season with a 27-10 overall singles record and earned both ITA All-American and Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer honors this postseason.
Diaz-Delgado and partner Laura Garcia Astudillo are positioned No. 8 after finishing the 2022 spring campaign with a stellar 13-2 overall record. The pairing previously earned a season high ranking of No. 48 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings.
