Economic justice is the theme for events that will be held during this year’s annual Virginia Commonwealth University celebration of life and the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
When it comes to equity in health care, VCU Health team members recognize how social and economic factors in a person’s life can cause significant barriers when accessing providers. Some of those factors have also historically exploited or marginalized Black, Latino and other minority groups in the commonwealth. Taking note of these problems, there are a wide variety of initiatives VCU Health is pursuing to bridge health care gaps for underserved communities.
