Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan has recently expressed her concerns regarding the implications of the proposed SAVE Act. Through a series of social media posts, McClellan delineates the potential adverse effects of the legislation, especially on particular demographics. McClellan represents Virginia’s 4th district and has a history of service in both the U.S. Congress and Virginia's state legislature. She has raised her voice against what she perceives as attempts to undermine voting rights.

On April 2, 2025, Congresswoman McClellan stated, "The SAVE Act is a modern day poll tax and voter suppression, particularly for women, military service members deployed away from home, the disabled and homebound, rural and indigenous communities." McClellan further emphasized her alliance with the Democratic Women’s Caucus in opposing Republican proposals that, according to her, threaten to reverse progress in voting rights.

A subsequent post reiterated the same position, again stressing her support for Democratic efforts to resist what she terms a rollback of established voting privileges. She associates the Act with regressive measures historically aimed at disenfranchising vulnerable groups.
