Three members of the University of Richmond women’s tennis team were named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on May 12. Sofia Barbulescu, Abby Lee, and Lucy Webber received recognition for their performances both in athletics and academics.
The award highlights student-athletes who excel in competition and maintain strong academic records. Honorees must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average while meeting competition requirements.
Barbulescu earned Academic All-District honors after being selected First Team All-Atlantic 10 for a second consecutive season. As a sophomore competing at No. 1 singles, she achieved eight dual-match victories and ended her season with four wins in her last five matches, including a three-set win over Davidson’s Savanna Kollock.
Lee was recognized with her first CSC Academic All-District selection following a successful sophomore year. She also earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors by winning eleven singles matches primarily at the No. 5 position and contributed in doubles play during the spring season as Richmond advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals for the fourth straight year.
Webber secured her first Academic All-District honor after a junior season that included Second Team All-Atlantic 10 recognition. She led the team with twelve singles wins during dual matches while playing across various positions in the lineup and added several key conference victories as well as contributions in doubles play throughout the year.
All three athletes will now advance to consideration for CSC Academic All-America status, with selections expected to be announced in June.
