Virginia Commonwealth University lost to Elon by a score of 13-8 in a women’s lacrosse game held at Cary Street Field in Richmond, Va., according to a March 31 announcement. VCU now holds an overall record of 8-4, while Elon improves to 4-6.

The game began with VCU taking an early lead, scoring three unanswered goals and holding a 3-0 advantage with just over eight minutes left in the first quarter. However, Elon responded with three consecutive goals to tie the game by the end of the opening period.

In the second quarter, VCU regained a brief lead when O’Keefe scored, putting the Rams ahead 4-3. But Elon then took control of the match by scoring five straight goals and ultimately netting ten out of twelve subsequent points. This surge gave them a commanding 13-6 lead late in the fourth quarter.

Elon outshot VCU both overall (27-20) and on shots on goal (20-11), and also led draw controls by a margin of 16-8. Ana Lee Vandiver was Elon’s top performer with three goals and three assists during the contest.
