VCU Women’s Tennis defeated Saint Joseph’s 4-0 on Apr. 18 at the Thalhimer Tennis Center in Richmond, Virginia, closing out their regular season with a sweep. The Rams improved their record to 11-10 overall and finished undefeated in Atlantic 10 conference play at 5-0.

The match highlighted VCU’s dominance throughout the conference season, as they secured victories over every Atlantic 10 opponent they faced. This win keeps them perfect within the conference heading into postseason play.

VCU started strong by winning the doubles point, taking matches on Courts 2 and 3 with scores of 6-1 and 6-3 respectively. The doubles match on Court 1 was left unfinished with VCU leading.

In singles action, VCU continued their momentum. On Court 1, a Rams player earned her third consecutive victory of the season with a commanding score of 6-1, 6-0. Another Rams player followed on Court 2 with a decisive win of her own (6-1, 6-1), improving her recent singles record to five wins in her last six matches. The clinching point came from Court 6 where another VCU player won convincingly (6-2, 6-1). Other singles matches were halted once victory was secured for VCU.

Saint Joseph’s entered the contest after mixed results during their Atlantic Ten campaign but could not overcome VCU’s strong performance across all courts.

Looking ahead, VCU will compete next in the Atlantic Ten Tournament against an opponent yet to be determined.
