VCU Women’s Tennis will play against No. 15 Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on May 1 in Durham, North Carolina, according to an April 27 announcement.

The matchup is significant as it marks VCU’s return to the national tournament stage, following their victory over Fordham in the Atlantic 10 Championship. This win secured their spot and represents VCU’s 22nd appearance all-time in the NCAA Tournament.

Duke enters the contest with an overall record of 18-7 and a conference record of 10-2 in ACC play. The Blue Devils advanced to the semifinals of the ACC tournament before being defeated by Virginia, with a score of 4-2.

If VCU wins its opening match against Duke, they will advance to face either Old Dominion or Tennessee on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The upcoming game presents another opportunity for VCU Women’s Tennis to compete at a high level and continue their postseason journey.
