Spiders Among Nation’s Best in NCAA FCS Stats
At the midway point of the 2022 season, the University of Richmond football team and its players rank among the nation's best in several statistical categories.
As a team, the Spiders rank in the top 25 nationally in 14 different categories across all phases of the game. In each category where Richmond finds itself in the top 25, it ranks in the top five among Colonial Athletic Association teams.
Offense:
1. Completion Percentage: .769 (1st in CAA)
8. Passing Offense: 307.8 yards per game (1st in CAA)
12. Third Down Conversion Percentage: .487 (1st in CAA)
13. Team Passing Efficiency: 156.91 (4th in CAA)
17. Time of Possession: 33:11 minutes per game (1st in CAA)
18. Total Offense: 437.8 yards per game (5th in CAA)
Defense:
T-6. Defensive Touchdowns: 2 (1st in CAA)
7. Turnover Margin: 1.20 (1st in CAA)
T-15. Interceptions: 6 (2nd in CAA)

Several players also stand shoulder-to-shoulder with NCAA FCS' top talent, with graduate quarterback Reece Udinski (North Wales, Pa.) holding the top spot in two categories. Udinski ranks first in the country in completion percentage at .770 (167-217) and leads in completions per game with 33.40.
Nationally, he's fourth (1st in CAA) with 1,501 passing yards, tied for seventh (2nd in CAA) with 13 passing touchdowns, is 11th (2nd in CAA) in points responsible for with 90 and is 19th (7th in CAA) in passing efficiency at 153.9 and 10th (2nd in CAA) in total offense with 303.8 yards per game.
Richmond's top three receivers are also three of the top pass catchers in NCAA FCS, with Jasiah Williams (Petersburg, Va.) ranking first in the CAA and tied for second overall in receptions per game with 8.6, while Leroy Henley Jr. (Pompano Beach, Fla.) and Jakob Herres (Easton, Pa.) are tied for second in the CAA and tied for 18th nationally with 6.0 receptions per game.
On the other side of the ball, Aaron Banks (Stephens City, Va.) is tied for 12th in the country and second in the CAA with a .6 interceptions per game and Tristan Wheeler (Bethlehem, Pa.) is tied for second in the CAA and tied for 18th in the country in tackles per game with 9.8 so far this season.
Richmond looks to continue its statistical success when the second half of the season picks up Oct. 15 when Villanova visits Robins Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30.
