Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia’s 4th District, has used her social media platform to discuss the impact of economic policies initiated by former President Donald Trump. The series of tweets posted on April 7, 2025, articulate her concerns over the tariffs introduced by the previous administration and their ongoing effect on American citizens.

In her first tweet, Congresswoman McClellan addressed the effects of the tariffs, noting that "Millions are already feeling the effects of Trump’s senseless tariffs in their retirement and other savings, and costs are only going to go up if nothing changes. He needs to change course, or we’re all going to pay the price."

Later that day, McClellan criticized the Trump administration's response to the stock market issues with a sharply worded message: "The U.S. stock market is in a freefall — and Trump has made it plainly obvious that he DOES NOT CARE. His claim that 'sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something' is not only cold: it’s not true. These tariffs won’t help anyone, not even his billionaire friends."

The congresswoman posted another tweet that same afternoon, though it contained only a link: "https://t.co/BSDcCiFvhM"
