On November 22, 2024, Congresswoman McClellan announced her introduction of a resolution to grant federal recognition to the Nottoway Tribe of Virginia. She expressed anticipation for the tribe's sovereignty to be recognized. "In honor of #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, I introduced a resolution to grant federal recognition to the Nottoway Tribe of Virginia. I look forward to seeing their sovereignty finally recognized."

Later that day, McClellan hosted an event in celebration of Veterans and Military Families Appreciation Month. The breakfast honored Lt. Col.
