Her recent tweets cover a range of topics from college basketball to the impact of historical figures and education policy.

On March 20, 2025, McClellan extended her support to Virginia Commonwealth University's basketball team as they participated in the March Madness tournament. She tweeted: "Best of luck @VCU_Hoops in today’s @MarchMadnessMBB game! We’re so proud to cheer you on! #LetsGoVCU #MarchMadness".

Later that day, she acknowledged the pioneering efforts of Leslie Byrne, the first woman to represent Virginia in Congress. McClellan noted her own position as the ninth woman and first Black woman representing Virginia in Congress thirty years later. She stated: "In 1993, Leslie Byrne became the first woman to represent Congress in Virginia, paving the way for me to become the ninth woman and first Black woman to represent Virginia in Congress thirty years later. I am grateful to be part of this sisterhood. #WHM2025".

In another tweet on March 20, 2025, McClellan criticized former President Trump's actions regarding the Department of Education. She expressed concern over its dismantling and emphasized the importance of education for individual success and societal well-being: "Trump's illegal dismantling of the Dept. of Education hurts everyone. A good education is key to individual success and a thriving economy, community and democracy. But for most of our history, states and local governments failed to provide a good education to every child."
