Later that day, she expressed strong disapproval of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's actions. In her tweet dated March 24, 2025, she stated: "I’m outraged by the constant recklessness coming from Pete Hegseth, our least qualified Secretary of Defense to date." She described his conduct as "a national embarrassment" and "a dangerous security breach."

The following day on March 25, 2025, Congresswoman McClellan turned her attention to energy policy. She highlighted the importance of renewable energy during an Energy Subcommittee hearing. Her tweet read: "Renewable energy is critical to keeping the lights on and meeting increasing energy demand." She mentioned questioning electric grid operators about their plans for incorporating renewable sources into regional grid planning.
