Richmond Fire Department issued the following announcement on Jun. 12.
According to US National Weather Service Wakefield VA, there is a Flash Flood Warning including Richmond VA, Highland Springs VA, East Highland Park VA until 5:30 PM EDT
In the past 30 minutes, we have received several calls for vehicles in high water - on Magnolia St/Rady St, 1235 Mosby Street, S Belvidere St/Cumberland St and Fairfield Ave/Kane St.
Please heed our warnings from Wednesday evening:
Turn around, don’t drown.
If you can’t see the lines on the roads, you shouldn’t be passing through the area.
It takes only a few inches of water to float a vehicle
If your vehicle is stuck in a flooded roadway and you can’t get to higher ground, stay with the vehicle. Moving water may hide manholes and other hazards.
