On December 12, 2024, Congresswoman McClellan commemorated the anniversary of Joseph H. Rainey becoming the first Black lawmaker sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives. She noted the current strength of the Congressional Black Caucus, stating: "OTD, Joseph H. Rainey became the first Black lawmaker sworn into the U.S. House, representing Charleston, SC. Today, the @TheBlackCaucus stands on his shoulders at 60 strong."
Later that day, McClellan announced her introduction of new legislation aimed at improving funding opportunities for Amtrak projects. She stated: "Today, I introduced the Amtrak Grant Flexibility Act to expand funding opportunities and make it easier for Amtrak to complete future projects."
