Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia's 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared her concerns and activities through a series of tweets. McClellan has been vocal about issues related to consumer protection and veteran affairs.
On February 14, 2025, McClellan expressed her disapproval of actions taken by Russell Vought and Elon Musk's associates regarding the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). She stated that "Russell Vought and Elon Musk’s DOGE bros have hijacked the CFPB, halting its vital work protecting consumers from predatory lending, mortgage fraud, exploitive junk fees and unfair bank practices." McClellan joined forces with Representative Maxine Waters to demand an end to what she described as a "hostile CFPB takeover."
In another tweet on the same day, McClellan highlighted the significance of the CFPB's role in preventing financial crises. She noted that "The CFPB was created to stop the bank and financial institution practices that led to the 2008 mortgage crisis and Great Recession." She warned that recent developments could potentially lead to another economic downturn.
Additionally, on February 14, 2025, McClellan extended Valentine's Day greetings while acknowledging community support for veterans. She shared her appreciation for those who participated in sending valentines to veterans in Virginia's 4th district. Her team delivered these messages personally while engaging in discussions with veterans at Hopewell’s VFW Post 637. In her words: "Happy Valentine’s Day, and thank you to everyone who sent Valentines for veterans in VA-04!"
