Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, representing Virginia's 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has expressed concerns over the Republican budget plan through a series of tweets. Her posts highlight potential impacts on healthcare and other essential services due to proposed budget cuts.

On February 19, 2025, McClellan tweeted about the implications of the Republican budget plan on Medicaid. She stated that "The Republican budget plan would cut Medicaid, meaning more expensive and less accessible health care." According to her, this change could affect 1.4 million people in Virginia who depend on Medicaid for their healthcare needs, including a significant percentage of children and nursing home residents.

In another tweet from the same day, McClellan addressed broader concerns regarding the Trump Administration and House Republicans' budget proposals. She noted that "The Trump Administration and House Republicans are calling for extreme budget cuts that will hurt countless different popular and essential services." She posed a question to her followers about what these cuts might mean for them personally.

Further elaborating on the impact of these proposed cuts, McClellan highlighted their effect beyond healthcare. In a subsequent tweet posted on February 19, she pointed out that "The effects don’t just stop at health care." She warned that access to food could be jeopardized for nearly 50,000 residents in Virginia's 4th district who rely on SNAP benefits.
