Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 4th district since 2023, recently took to social media to express her thoughts on various topics. McClellan replaced Donald McEachin and has a background in both the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate.
On February 21, 2025, McClellan commemorated the birth anniversary of John Lewis with a reflective tweet. She noted, "John Lewis was born 85 years ago today. He spent his life working to make the ideals upon which this country was founded true for everyone." She emphasized the enduring significance of his final words.
In another tweet posted shortly after, she directed her followers to read John Lewis's final op-ed published in The New York Times. She shared a link with her audience: "Read his final op-ed in @nytimes "
Later that day, McClellan addressed concerns regarding operational limitations at the Maggie Walker Site managed by the National Park Service. She attributed these constraints to staff reductions initiated during the Trump Administration. Her tweet stated: "My staff has received reports that because of the Trump Administration staff cuts, the @NatlParkService Maggie Walker Site can open only twice a week… during #BlackHistoryMonth." McClellan mentioned joining other Virginia Delegation members to advocate for reversing these cuts.
