RICHMOND, Va. –The Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin construction on traffic signal upgrades at the intersection of Chamberlayne Avenue and Lombardy Street next week.
Upgrades include:

•    Removing current traffic signal poles and installing new poles with retroreflective traffic signal heads

o    These backplates are more visible in both daytime and nighttime conditions

•    Installing vehicle detection sensors to improve traffic signal operation

•    Installing new pedestrian countdown equipment and buttons

During construction, there will be intermittent lane and sidewalk closures. Please slow down when you see orange cones and give construction workers extra space in all work zones.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by August 2024.

Funding for this $275,000 project is provided by the Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA).
